BBC Look North

On Wednesday 26th September there was much excitement in Harrogate with the announcement of the race routes for the 2019 UCI World Cycling Championships, which are being hosted in Harrogate in September 2019.  I was asked to appear live with some of my fellow cyclists on BBC Look North where we were intereview by Amy Garcia.

It was great fun and I hope you like watching the clip.

It’s not often we get a chance to get away in the caravan over the August Bank Holiday, but this year we did, and decided to head to the North Yorkshire coast and set up camp at the Bridlington CAMC site.

Please do not be offended, by these comments if you are from Brid, but I have to say that we were not impressed with Bridder’s town, after driving through it.  That said, we did have a really nice weekend visiting places like Dane’s Dyke to go fossil hunting, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Flamborough Head Lighthouse and Flamborough Lifeboat Fun Day.

Here are some photos for you to enjoy from the weekend.

Its always nice to visit Mallorca and this time was a two week family holiday in Puerto Pollensa.  What made this trip even better was that the bike also went with me.  The hotel we stayed at was Hoposa Villaconcha Aparthotel, which was superb.  The rooms were very modern and clean, the food was excellent as were the facilities.  Here is a link to hotel’s website:

From a cycling point of view I managed several rides during the fortnight, but due to the heat these were only short early morning rides before the temperatures got too high and the swimming pool was needed.

Some of the highlights we:

Hiring a mini convertible and heading up into the mountains to visit Lluc Monestary

Lunch in the village of Petra

Kayaking and paddleboarding in Pollensa Bay

Alcudia Old Town Market

Here are a some photos from the trip…

The New Forest

Here are a few images from a recent trip to the New Forest in the van.  it’s the first time in many years that I have been back to the Forest and picked Brockenhurst as our base, which hasn’t really changed much.

Over the course of the week we visited a number of places including Buckler’s Hard, Lymington, Lyndhurst and of course, plenty of cycling trips into the Forest.
